I knew he wasn't going to last long at the rate he was going so I acted fast. I opened the window and yelled at him, he spun around and pointed the gun at me before realizing I was actually talking to him.

I told him to climb up to my window and I would hold off the creatures, he didn't have much choice so he nodded I grabbed a rifle and gave him a signal to go. He took off in a dead sprint towards the building, as he got close to each creature I would shoot the creature aiming for the head. He finally made it to the building. As he climbed up I tossed a sheet over over the window sill for him to grab on to and pulled him inside, he sat still for a minute then thanked me for helping him. As we both sat there catching our breath I realized that I had just learned something new about my self....

I'm a very good shot! We exchanged short pleasantries, considering I had little to offer. I told him what I had learned from the TV. and we decided that it would be a good idea to stick together on our trek to one of the military bases. So now we are going to try to get some sleep, and sleep with one eye open now that the creatures know we're in this building. Tomorrow we start our journey to the nearest base which is about 500 miles away and we have no idea of the state of the roads or other cities.

Right now the only thing I know about myself other than I'm quite proficient with guns, is that I want to survive and I plan to.

No one on the sidewalks in cars

Well, didn't sleep much last night. Started the day today with more questions and still no answers. Strange sounds coming out of the woods surrounding the house, loud screeching and ungodly inhuman screams and moans.

I didn't sleep much after that. I exercised extreme caution today as a explored outside the house and I still have no recollection of who I am. I found keys to the car outside, (and apparently I know how to drive a car), and drove around a little bit.

I didn't see very much at first, but soon I started seeing cars and trucks along the road empty, against my better judgement I got out and inspected a few of them and they appeared to have just been abandoned, some were even still running and I have to say that left me with quite an eerie feeling.

I drove around for quite awhile and realized that I seemed to know where I was going and I finally ended up in a small town. I needed gas so I decided to look for a station and as I drove around I started to notice that I wasn't seeing any people, no one on the sidewalks, in cars, or in any of the stores. I finally found a gas station and pulled up to the gas pump and wondered if the pump would even work and luckily it did, so I filled the car up and walked into the gas station to see if anyone was inside and of course... no one.

I at least grabbed some food, drinks, a map and a few other supplies and went back to the car. At this point I started to really worry, where the hell are all the people in this town? Why was I able to navigate this town without any recollection of it? What is going on? As I tried to figure out what was going on I noticed it was starting to get dark and with the noises I had heard the previous night I didn't want to be moving around after dark. At least not until I figure out what is going on.

I decided to try to find somewhere safe to sleep for the night and I happened upon a hotel and decided to check it out. The lights were on inside but once again there was no one there, so I helped myself to a room key and I'm hoping to get a better nights rest tonight. I'm starting to wonder if maybe I'm crazy, the only thing that convinces me that I'm not is reading the pages I have written in this journal.

My gut tells me that something is horribly wrong and that I should probably arm myself so maybe I'll look for something to defend myself with tomorrow as well.

surroundings seem familiar

I awoke today with no recollection of my identity or my past.

My surroundings seem familiar to me but I do not recognize this place, the house I'm in seems to have been ransacked.

I've tried the televisions, radios and computers... nothing, no signals. I thought for a moment I heard a faint voice on the radio but it disappeared as quickly as it came. Outside everything is eerily quiet, no dogs, nothing but the faint sounds of birds and insects.

My body aches and my mind is feeling quite fuzzy, I can only hope I regain some memory of who I am and what is going on soon. As it was already late when I awoke I feel that I should rest and recover more before I leave this house, luckily there was plenty of food here.

There is also a car parked in the driveway, I figure I'll look for keys tomorrow but right now I'm going to try to get some sleep and figure things out tomorrow.

Water makes up 75% of our body and 2 thirds of the earths surface, making it evident that it is important for life and growth. This means that over time, without the adequate amount of daily water, your lungs will deteriorate, your cells will deteriorate, your heart and other vital organs will deteriorate, your muscles, your bones, your tissue and your brain will deteriorate. Even your blood is 80% water, so think about what you are doing to your insides when you don't drink enough, and think about the good you are doing for your body when you do drink enough!

Water also transports oxygen to your cells, removes toxins and waste from your body, and protects joints and organs. Lack of water, leading to dehydration, can cause dizziness, fatigue, allergies, arthritis, joint and muscle pains, headaches, constipation, and in serious cases, can cause asthma, hypertention, ulcers, disease, and even death. Pay attention to all of the people walking around that are overweight, hurting, complaining of aches and pains, or have muscle cramps, arthritis, bone and joint pain, health and heart probelms, diabetes, etc. and notice the amount of water they are drinking. Many scientists, and doctors (both traditional and non) know that water plays an important role in not only overall health, but in HEALING as well! But weather you believe that water can heal disease or not, you should know that it will definetly prevent disease, and lack of it will surely and most evidently cause disease. Did you know that once you become thirsty, you are already dehydrated! Once you are thirsty, it is too late. You should be drinking water throughout your day to prevent this. And for every hour you are outside, you should drink atleast 8 ounces of water.

You should be drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day, but as with everything, too much can be harmful. If you are drinking over a gallon of water a day and still feeling dehydrated, you should go see a doctor. And you should be careful as to which water you drink. You will want the most pure water. I personally drink spring water. There is, and always will be, question and speculation about which water to is best or worst for you. Some say that spring is the best and others say it is not. It is really up to you to decide, reseach the ingredients in your water and make your own conclusion. But I would stay away from tap water all together.  I'm sure with a little research you will find a list of others, and even information to the contrary, but like I said, draw your own conclusions.

When you are choosing the type of water, you want to make sure it is free of bacteria, parasites, metals, radioactive materials, oil, and chemicals (including pestisides, herbasides, chlorine, sewage, nitrates, phosphates, etc) which can ALL be found in tap water.

A Dutch firm is developing a high-speed bus that could take the sting out of inter-city travel

Japan might have the Shinkansen (or "Bullet Train"), but a Netherlands firm is developing a high-speed bus that could all but match the Japanese bullet for rapidity. Dubbed the Superbus concept, the 15m long, electric-powered vehicle is said to be capable of carrying 23 passengers at speeds of up to 250km/h on a dedicated "speed track". The low-slung bus was displayed earlier this year at a transport expo in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, and it’s currently being trialled in the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi.

If the trials prove successful, the Superbus could ply the route between Dubai and Abu Dhabi – a 120km stretch that the bus could theoretically cover in just over 30 minutes. The Superbus is the brainchild of a design team at TU Delft University of Technology in Holland, and its designers are pitching it as the shape of things to come in sustainable transport. Rather than being laid out like a conventional bus, the novel concept houses passengers in forward and backward facing rows, and there are eight doors on each flank to make for easy ingress and egress.



According to the initial proposal, the Superbus would operate on its dedicated two-lane highway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and leave the "speed track" in urban areas to drop off passengers at agreed locations. Powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries, the 390kW Superbus is similar in length and width to a conventional bus, but in the quest for optimised aerodynamics it sits only as high as an average SUV – and it’s fronted by a beak that’s seemingly borrowed from a supercar. The high-tech Superbus is cloaked in a carbonfibre bodyshell, and it uses rear-wheel steering to boost low-speed manoeuvrability and high-speed stability. Its safety kit also includes advanced radar and electronic obstacle-detection systems.



It also deviates from the norm in that, rather than operating according to a fixed timetable, commuters would book online or with their mobile phone, and the bus would then pick them up and drop them off at their desired location. However, the Superbus is still at least four years away from being road-ready as its makers say there are still several packaging, safety and logistical issues to be resolved in the interim.

Ok… to start, write down what you want to say, organize that into an opening about what you want to say about what you have to offer, make the opening as least 30 seconds, maybe longer if you can. Tell it like you would tell your friend, you wouldn’t be afraid to talk with them would you?

When you do call your prospect, use their first name, Say Hello (first name) this is (your first name) and (then just continue your opening without waiting for them to say anything, you don’t want to give them the opportunity to end the call before you have said what you called to say). If you use their first name and your first name only, they’ll be wondering if they ever met you or when they met you and be more interested in listening to you which gives you the opportunity to get your information out there!

I find that this is the most effective way to deal with calling leads. Go ahead, practice first on a friend, then go for it! Don’t be afraid, what’s the worst that can happen? They hang up? What if they ask for more information … there you go…. that’s what you want!

London was down 2.55 percent, Frankfurt shed 3.65 percent, Paris lost 2.99 percent, Madrid tumbled 2.94 percent and Milan gave up 2.71 percent. In Asia, Tokyo tumbled 2.51 percent, hit by the double-whammy of global fears and the persistently strong yen, while Sydney shed 3.51 percent and Seoul plunged 6.22 percent. "Further weak manufacturing data from the US and surprisingly poor German GDP this week increase the likelihood of a double-dip recession and recent evidence indicates there are also inflationary pressures in these weakening economies," said Spreadex trader Jordan Lambert. "This is a double blow to consumers as they now have price rises to deal with along with job insecurity which all leads to less disposable income. Despite the gloomy economic picture M&A activity continues."

Hewlett-Packard, the world's top personal computer maker, announced Thursday that it was buying British enterprise software company Autonomy for $10.24 billion (7.17 billion euros). HP said it would purchase all of the outstanding shares of Autonomy for $42.11 a share in cash, a premium of 64 percent over Autonomy's closing price on the London Stock Exchange on Wednesday. Autonomy's share price jumped 75 percent on Friday.

With trillions of dollars wiped off global stock markets in recent weeks, cash-rich companies are seizing bargains. Google shook up the mobile phone industry Monday with the announcement it was buying US smartphone maker Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion. London-based brewer SABMiller meanwhile launched a hostile bid for Australian beer giant Foster's on Wednesday worth $10 billion.

Elsewhere, gold continued to benefit from the stock market turmoil, with the precious metal striking a record high of $1,868.63 an ounce on the London Bullion Market. "Flights to safe haven asset plays such as gold, which remains the defensive trade of choice, has continued," said analyst Raymond.

New worries about a second recession in the United States and Europe, prompted by an investment bank report, sent US stocks into a new sharp fall on Thursday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 3.68 percent, the broader S&P 500 sank 4.46 percent and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite dived 5.22 percent. The spark to the new fall was a Morgan Stanley report warning that global growth was slowing and that the United States and Europe were on the precipice of plunging into a new recession, two years after the end of the last one.

China shuts chemical plant amid mass protest

Authorities in a Chinese city ordered the immediate shutdown of a chemical plant on Sunday as thousands of protesters took to the streets demanding the factory be moved over pollution fears.

The demonstration by some 12,000 residents in the northeastern city of Dalian is the latest bout of unrest to hit China as anger over issues such as social inequalities and environmental degradation boils over.

Residents in the port city in Liaoning province gathered in front of the municipal government's office on Sunday morning, and were joined by more and more people, the official Xinhua news agency said.

Some scuffled with riot police, throwing bottles of water at them as they tried to cordon off one of the city's main arteries, but there were no reports of injuries, it added.

The municipal government ordered the plant be closed "immediately" after protesters refused to disperse, and also pledged to relocate the plant, Xinhua reported. Calls to the government went unanswered on Sunday.

One hotel receptionist, who refused to be named, told AFP by phone that protesters were worried about their health. "If people had a better choice, they would not take to the streets," she said.

Pictures of the protest posted on Sina's Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, showed people marching down a street with a banner that read: "We want to survive, we want a good environment, give me back my Dalian."

Other pictures showed wide streets full of protesters, hundreds of people staging a sit-in on a square in front of the government office, and children taking part in the demonstrations with their parents.

In a sign of the sensitivity of the protest, China's censors appeared to be blocking any mention of the subject on Weibo.

Searches for "Dalian" came up with a message saying "search results cannot be displayed due to relevant laws, regulations and policies."

Pollution-related scares are common in China -- the world's biggest emitter of greenhouse gases -- where an emphasis on economic growth over the past three decades has led to widespread environmental degradation.

As such, environmental problems have triggered a rising number of riots and other forms of public unrest over the years.

In one high-profile case in 2007, work on a billion-dollar petrochemical plant in the southeastern port city of Xiamen was scrapped following huge public discontent about industrial pollution.

The Dalian protest is the latest bout of unrest to hit China in recent months, as social discontent and ethnic tensions boil over.

On Thursday, thousands of people took to the streets in the southwestern province of Guizhou, with some smashing and burning vehicles, after a city official "chengguan" in Chinese injured a female cyclist.

The "chengguan" responsible for low-level policing on China's streets are widely disliked and have a reputation for using brute force against civilians.

In July, the far-western region of Xinjiang -- home to the mainly Muslim Uighur minority -- was the scene of at least three violent attacks and clashes that killed more than 30 people.

And in late May, thousands of ethnic Mongols protested in northern China for several days over the killing of a herder.
